I have been working on a little "weekend" project for the past month or so now. It really hasn't been complicated or difficult, so I'm not entirely sure why it is taking so long to get it done. BUT - we are almost there, and I am excited to show you all soon. For now, I'm giving you a little sneak peak!I needed some fabric for this project, and as per usual, I had something pretty specific in mind. Rather than search through a bunch of web sites or drive around town trying to find a textile that matched up with my mental picture, I just decided to make my own. Here's how to create your own completely customizable patterned fabric for whatever project you are working on (or putting off) these days.I started off by making a stamp. I sketched the shape I wanted onto a scrap piece Continue Reading

Tear Open Easter Egg Cards (Print and Cut Silhouette File)
I'm excited to be participating in the Silhouette Challenge again this month, and I am really excited to share what I made with all of you! Like really, really excited. In last month's Silhouette Challenge, I was intrigued by Lisa from Grey Luster Girl's Candy Travel Alphabet Game. It worked kind of like an advent calendar with little tear-open windows for each letter. I loved the idea and really wanted to try my hand a some kind of tear-open project. Aaaaaand I think what I came up with is actually kind of awesome. We all love a little mystery, right? Cracking open an Easter egg to see what goodies hide inside is a childhood joy that I haven't quite grown out of. I decided to try and re-create that experience in a paper card. So I designed a card with an egg on the front that tears Continue Reading
Little Leather Gem Pouch
This post contains affiliate links, and if you decide to make a purchase, I may make a small commission. For a while now, I've been wanting to try out a project combining leather and crochet. And here is my first experiment. I shared this little pouch over at Eighteen25 a couple of weeks ago, and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I'm sure there will be many more leather experiments in the future. To make this little pouch you will need:leather scraps cotton crochet thread (I used size 3) a small crochet hook (I used 1.3 mm) needle mini leather punch and hammer buttonI started off by using a straightedge to sketch out my gem shape. I ended up with six pattern pieces - three on top and three on bottom.I didn't want to leave pin holes in my Continue Reading
New Obsession: Marbled Paper
Guys. New obsession alert. I'm going crazy over marbleized paper over here. Crazy. It all started maybe a week ago when I discovered this GORGEOUS wall art from The Lovely Cupboard.Isn't it beautiful? And doesn't it look expensive? Guys - It's framed paper. Yeah.... I needed this in my life ASAP. And, yes, I did order several pieces that will hopefully be arriving soon. And what will I be doing with it when it arrives? Let's look at a few options, shall we?My first thought was to cover boxes like Centsational Girl did. And I'm thinking it was a good thought. How gorgeous are these?Or, how about covering some thrifted nesting tables like Eddie Ross did?And then there's gorgeous clip board from Fabric Paper Glue. Hmm... decisions. But I really kind of need a coffee Continue Reading
Bubbly Birthday Classroom Gifts with Free Printable and Cut File
My oldest's birthday is coming up, and since it's his first birthday in school, it's the first time he's taking birthday treats to his class. This is one of those simple mom things that stresses me out more than it should. Does anyone else do this? I know it's not a big deal, but since I've never done it before I worry about messing it up. It's Rookie School-Mom anxiety.Anyway, because of allergies, no edible treats are allowed, which means the traditional cupcake is a no-go. Instead, we picked up some little bubble favors at Target to give to his classmates. And I whipped up some little tags to tie on to each one. I think they turned out pretty cute, and they were suuuuuuuper easy to put together (much easier than cupcakes!). Especially because I used my Silhouette to cut out Continue Reading
Free Watercolor Printables for Easter
Hey hey! I've got a little free bunny printable for you all today, which makes two bunny projects in one week. Yikes. I should probably chill out on the bunnies a bit, yeah? I promise no more bunnies for at least a week.Anyway, I painted this little bunny a few years ago for my daughter's nursery. If you are interested in trying a simple watercolor painting, this is a great technique. To make it, I found an image of a rabbit online, printed it, cut out around the rabbit, traced the shape on my watercolor paper, and then painted the remaining negative space. So simple!I found this little guy in a drawer recently, and thought he would make a cute little Easter printable. So, here it is!You can get it in the multi-color original HERE, which looks like this printed out (my Continue Reading
Bunny Tangram Art for Spring
Today I'm excited to be teaming up with six other bloggers to share fun Easter projects! Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post to see what Easter creations my friends have been working on.When I finished up my embroidered Happy Spring banner for my latest mantel update, I knew I needed another little Springy/Easter art or decor. When I started brainstorming ideas, I thought of bunny art, and then geometric bunny art, which led to the idea of tangrams. Tangrams!Yes, this is my second tangram-related post in the past couple weeks, but it was just so simple and cute, and I really like it, so there. :)This project literally takes about five minutes. It went something like this:Find cute scrapbook paper. Cut out tangram shapes. Glue tangram shapes Continue Reading
