A couple years ago, I turned some old cheap mini blinds into a pretty roman shade, and when I was working on my new craft area a couple months ago, I decided that roman shade needed a makeover.I wanted to share this project again because it is such an easy way to create a roman shade that actually works and looks great. To make the roman shade, you will have to start by taking apart the blinds. You will need to only keep a few of the blinds, which will work as the rods that lift the shade.I just used five, spaced ten inches apart. If you space them closer together, you will get more folds, when you draw the shade.Once you have everything measured out and lined up, you will just glue the fabric to the blinds with a permanent fabric glue like Fabri-Tac or Fabri-Fix.Put glue on the blinds Continue Reading

DIY Black and White Geometric Art
*This post contains affiliate links.A couple weeks ago I posted about the new gallery wall that I put together in our Master bedroom. I made a few new pieces of art for the gallery wall, and the one I'm sharing with you guys today is definitely my favorite. This DIY Geometric Art was inspired by a book I ordered a month ago called Design Motifs of Ancient Mexico. It is full of really cool designs and patterns, and I thought one would make some great art for my gallery wall.I started with a canvas that had already been painted a couple of times. It's most recent incarnation involved attaching silk flowers to the canvas with hot glue. I ripped all the flowers off and gave the entire canvas a coating of white spray paint to start over. Of course, you could start this off with a new Continue Reading

Simple Crochet Pencil Pouch – Free Crochet Pattern
This Simple Crochet Pencil Pouch Pattern is a great pattern for beginning crocheters. Make a cute little pouch to hold pencils or whatever you want! I originally shared this post at Craftaholics Anonymous, and it contains affiliate links, which help to support this blog. I've got a perfect little back to school crochet project for y'all today: a cutie cute little pencil pouch! You can work this guy up in a couple of hours, and it is totally simple enough for a beginner crocheter. In fact, I made up this pattern when I was teaching some 10 and 11 year old girls to crochet as a first project pattern.I like this pattern for a first crochet pattern because it is basically a simple rectangle but it's a little more exciting than a washcloth or scarf (in my opinion). Plus you get to Continue Reading
An Eclectic Gallery Wall with Art Crate
I've mentioned a few times here and there that I'm currently (finally) giving our Master Bedroom some love, and my latest project has been creating a new gallery wall. Our Master Bedroom has a HUGE blank wall on one side. Guys - I mean big. And empty. At least, it was empty. Enter the gallery wall.I have always loved the collected look of gallery walls. Especially ones that cover entire walls - floor to ceiling, wrapping around doorways and furniture. Eventually, I want that full look for my bedroom wall. The problem is that it is not so easy to collect that much great art! I've been saving and making things for months, but I still needed MORE. So, when Art Crate offered to send me a few prints to try out their monthly hand-selected art service, I was definitely interested. Continue Reading
DIY Clipboard Art Display Wall
It's probably no surprise that my kids love to paint and draw and craft - just like their Mama! All that creating has left me with enough artwork to cover our refrigerator many times over. When I was planning to add a little crafting area for my kids within my new craft room, I decided to add a space to display the kids' most recent masterpieces.I picked up four clipboards and gave them a little makeover to fit in with the room. I started out by giving the clips a couple coats of shiny gold spray paint.A scrap piece of paper and painter's tape protected the rest of the clipboard. When the clips were dry, I added a block of black chalkboard paint to the bottoms of the clipboards.I didn't rub chalk on them because I liked the dark black look. If I decide to use them as Continue Reading
