Craft Room Tour

Normally, when I am sharing a full room tour with you guys I am really excited. I love it, and I just want to show you how it all came together! I feel that way today, but I also am kind of bummed out. Not because I don’t love this room – more like because I love it SO much. And because we just decided that we are going to sell our home, which means my time with this lovely space is coming to an end.
Sad face.
BUT – until then, we can enjoy some pretty pictures together. Want to come and see my new craft space? Of course you do! Come on in!
My new craft room is actually the small loft at the top of our stairs. When we first moved into our home, five years ago, we threw a couch, and a desk, and a bunch of book shelves into the room, and then pretty much never used it. Like, seriously, no one ever sat on that couch.
So – I said out with the couch! In with craft storage!
It was such a good decision, guys. I just wish I had done it sooner!
So, this space actually serves several functions – craft room, office, library, and kid’s craft area. First off on the wall to the right I have my office/desk area, peg board, and sewing table (I have never had a sewing table before! It is so awesome not to have to constantly pull my machine out and put it away again. And I can work on a project and my family can still eat dinner! Amazing!)
I loved my quote wall! (Did you catch that? – I lovED it. We decided it better come down before we listed our house, so it is already gone. I have to stop talking about it or else I might cry.)
To make the quote wall, I just wrote out tons of quotes and phrases with my favorite fancy brush pen on white cardstock and stuck em to the walls with tape. It took a lot longer than I thought it was going to take. But I LOVED it.
To the right of the desk, we have our two giant printers and my Silhouette against the half wall.
(P.S. I love my new rug annnnnnd pretty much all of the Nate Berkus for Target line.)
To the left of the desk, we have my pretty little DIY marbled filing cabinet and peg board.
You can get the tutorial for the marble filing cabinet here. Ain’t she purdy?
And – guys – the pegboard is kind of a miracle worker. I mean, I always know where my scissors are! And how about this pretty little ribbon basket?
Nice, right? I spray painted all of the hardware in the room with my favorite gold paint (Rustoleum Metallic) to give it a little more personality. I used these pegboard baskets from Home Depot.
Moving on down the wall, I have my sewing desk, with a chalkboard magnet board hanging above (plus some pretty tissue tassels leftover from my son’s birthday party).
Next door, I’ve stolen a few shelves on the Ikea bookshelves for craft supplies. I especially love having my pretty yarn out where I can see it.

I re-did my mini blind shades with some new fabric for a new look, and I think they look pretty awesome (by the way that is a really old post, so please don’t judge if you click over).

On the other wall, we have more craft storage and the kids’ art station.

Above a cabinet filled with craft supplies I have a shelf with more yarn, and my easy washi tape storage.

The kids’ art area is made up of the kid’s table that I refinished, a Ikea rail painted gold to hold craft supplies, a paper holder, and the clipboard art display wall.

It’s so nice having a little spot for the kids to work close to where I am working.
And – all done! Phew. That was a lot of photos. Thanks for sticking around for the whole thing! What do you all think?

I saw your quote wall and thought it looked fabulous. I am sad that it has gone, but I might just steal your idea there if I can find enough quotes!

Holy cow, I love this space so much! Amazing job! The quote wall is epic. Sorry it has to come down, but hopefully you will have an even better craft space in your new home!

Freaking love your craft space! Totally jealous that you have (had?) room for one. I hope in your new place you also find a dedicated craft area!

I love this! I would just about do anything to have a craft room all of my own. We have an extra space above the garage and there are three plans, either an office for Mike, room for Kyla or a room for me. Of course I hope I win but alas I probably wont.

Hoping your new place has a great place you can recreate this in.

WOW. Such a fun and functional space (you put the "fun" in "functional"? eh? too dorky?) I LOVE that rug too and am very jealous of your designated sewing table. Thanks for sharing that fancy pen- I need it.

I'm tearing up a bit just knowing you had to take down the quote wall, but I'm sure you'll have it back up in your new wonderful space before you know it! So love your craft room, thanks for taking a million pictures because I needed to see every single one of them!!!! Love all the personality you brought into it, too!

What a great craft room! I love that you added some seating for the little ones. I'd love to have my own craft room. And so would my husband so my little projects wouldn't be scattered all over the house : P Enjoy your creative space—it's quite the inspiration!

You make me wish we weren't renting! I love the rod with little hooks and buckets. It would be such a great way to keep all my smaller tools organized! I'll have to remember it for when we're somewhere we can add things to the walls.

This is such a cool room, great idea to get the kids in there, too. I especially love the quote wall, seems like something I could do, and it must've been pretty motivational!

In love with your room! So glad you saw it's potential even if just for a little while. I got some great organizing ideas for when we have a future craft basement and Pinned it! Also contemplating if I want to DIY my filing cabinet or just get a new one. Yours rocks! (See what I did there?) 😉
