Hello, friends! Are you guys ready for some winter holiday crafting yet?
As you may or may not know, I live in Las Vegas, and normally this time of year we are still enjoying pretty warm weather, but it has been unusually cold here this week! I’ve been having to put on socks! Gasp! Haha… But really the cold weather rolling in is making me feel all ready for winter and Christmas crafting.
Free Winter Monogram SVG Cut Files
Today, I’m sharing some new FREE cut files with you all. These designs are basically a seasonal twist on the free floral monogram cut files I shared in this post. I took that idea and added some holly leaves and pine branches to create a winter vibe. The download includes cut files for all 26 letters in three formats (SVG, DXF, and PNG).
Of course, you can use these free monogram cut file designs for any projects you like, but I wanted to share what I made with them. Keep scrolling to find the download link at the end of the post.
DIY Monogrammed Stockings
My first thought for these monogram cut files was using them to personalize stockings. I picked up these cute cream felt stockings when I was at Hobby Lobby the other day, and I knew they would be so cute with some HTV monograms. I love how they turned out!
DIY Monogrammed Stocking Supplies:
- Blank Stockings (I have put together a list of some different blank stocking options below)
- Heat Transfer Vinyl (I used Siser Easyweed)
- Iron or EasyPress
- Parchment Paper
- Cutting Machine (I used my Silhouette Cameo 4)
You can find blank stockings in lots of colors and styles so you can customize your stockings to suit your home and Christmas color scheme. When picking out a blank stocking, be sure to choose one that can withstand the heat of your iron. Here are a few options I found after a bit of online browsing that look like the would be a good fit for this project:
- Dark Grey Buffalo Plaid Stockings
- Red and Green Mini Felt Stockings
- 3 Pack Farmhouse Stockings
- Blank Stockings in Multiple Colors (Teal, Pink, Purple, Gray)
- Blank Burlap Stockings
- Red and Black Buffalo Plaid Stockings
- Quilted Red & White Stockings
- Felt Stocking with Plaid Cuff
How to Make a DIY Monogramed Stocking
If you have not worked with heat transfer vinyl before, be sure to check out my beginner’s guide to working with heat transfer vinyl right HERE.
- Start off by downloading the free winter monogram cut files from the download link below and then open the file up in your cutting machine software.
- Measure the area where you want to place the monogram on your stocking and scale the design to fit in your cutting machine software. Remember to mirror the design so your monogram will read correctly when applied.
- Place your HTV glossy side down on your cutting mat, and send it to cut. (For my white and red stockings, I cut my design from Siser Easyweed in Red, but you can use any heat transfer or iron on vinyl you like.)
- Once your design is done cutting, it’s time to weed and apply. Remove the excess vinyl from around your design using a weeding hook, tweezers, or a pin.
- Then, flip the design over, position it on your stocking and use your iron to adhere it to the stocking. Follow the application instructions for the vinyl you are using.
And that’s it! Your stockings are all done and ready to be filled with goodies Christmas morning.
DIY Round Winter Banner
My second idea for using these winter monogram cut files was to create a simple banner. Since you have all of the letters of the alphabet, you can spell out any word that you like! I decided to keep things simple and made a little “joy” banner.
For this banner I used Siser Glitter heat transfer vinyl. Did you know you can use HTV on paper? It’s true, and it’s a technique I love to use especially when I want the extra sparkly look you can get with glitter HTV.
DIY Joy Banner Supplies:
- Cardstock
- Siser Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl (I used Rainbow White)
- Twine
- Iron or EasyPress
- Cutting Machine (I used my Silhouette Cameo 4)
DIY Winter Monogram Banner Assembly Instructions
- Start by opening the cut files in you cutting machine software. Create a circle shape in your cutting machine software larger than the monogram shape. Add in small circles at the top for threading through the twine to hang your finished banner.
- Cut the larger circle shape from your cardstock. Cut as many circles as letters.
- Cut each letter you need from the glitter HTV. Remember to mirror your design before cutting.
- Weed out the excess vinyl from around each letter design.
- Position each letter on its cardstock circle and use your iron to adhere the vinyl to the paper.
And that’s it! I love how easy it was to put together this cute little banner! Okay, ready to grab those free cut files?
Please Note: These cut files are free for personal use only (making things for yourself or as gifts).
