When We Are Knitters reached out to me to see if I would be interested in reviewing one of their kits, I jumped at the chance. Just take one look at their beautiful site, and you will see why – it is absolutely bursting with gorgeous yarns and on-trend projects. We Are Knitters is a place for knitters, crocheters, and crafters of all levels to find beautiful yarns, needles, and patterns – browsing their site just gets me so excited to make something!
I decided to try out one of their crochet kits because crochet is definitely my comfort zone, but I think next time I will try out a knitting kit. I have done some knitting, but I’d like to up my skills and a kit that comes with everything you need seems like the perfect way to do that! This time around I picked the Sphinx Blanket, which is a chunky, lacy throw that I absolutely love.
The kit comes perfectly packaged with everything you need right inside.
It is all packed into a sturdy paper bag that works perfectly for carrying your project around while you are working on it. Love that! And here’s what’s inside that pretty bag:
Some of the most gorgeous wool you will ever get your hands on. These balls of wool are BIG and the yarn is thick and soft. SO soft, you guys. This wool has no itch at all. It’s 100% natural Peruvian wool, and it comes in 30 pretty colors, including the Salmon that I chose, which is the perfect light peachy pink.
The kit also includes a yarn needle for weaving in the ends, a super fun tag you can sew onto your finished piece, and the pattern instructions.
Oh! Also included in the kit is a beautiful beechwood crochet hook that is a dream to crochet with. Seriously – new favorite hook.
The Sphinx Blanket was a pretty easy project that worked up really quickly thanks to the chunky wool and large hook. I really appreciated that the pattern included a super helpful chart. It was so nice to just glance at the chart to remind me of the pattern rather than read through the written instructions!
It really was such a pleasure to work with this wool and hook! Looking at that photo makes me want to get going on my next project!
My favorite detail from the finished blanket was the chunky pom-pom edging. It’s just so fun! (Psst – if you love it and need to make your own, you can get 15% off you purchase through the end of March with the code PERSIALOUWAK. Nice, right?)
I love the lacy texture of the stitch too. There’s something about an oversized lace pattern that just really gets me.
My new throw looks great draped over the arm of my sofa, but it’s also perfect for cuddling up with. It is so soft and squishy!
Have I mentioned how soft this wool is? I want you all to get your hands on some, so good news! We Are Knitters is giving away one of their fabulous kits to one lucky Persia Lou reader! The winner can choose any kit they like up to $100! Sweet, right? Just enter in the Rafflecopter widget below. Good luck!
And don’t forget, even if you don’t win, you can get 15% off on everything (woot!) with the code PERSIALOUWAK.

I’m sorry, Monica! I wish delivery to Australia from here was easier! I’ve run into problems with that before. Maybe they will ship out your way in the future! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. 🙂

I knit. Would it be a good kit/pattern to learn to crochet??? those Pom-Poms are the best <3
Alexis says
Hi Peg! I think the Fig scarf or either of the crochet beanie kits would be great to get you started. 🙂 Good luck!

Oh! I just realized I think maybe I read your question wrong. 🙂 If you want to give the sphinx blanket a try, I would say go for it. It is marked as an intermediate level pattern, and I would say that is accurate. If you can learn how to read charts, I think you would find the chart included in the pattern very helpful. It’s not too tricky. Just google how to read crochet charts and you will find all kinds of helpful info. Good luck!

i’ll give your suggestion a try about how to read charts and take a look at fig scarf. thanks once again 😀

I would choose the CHEWING GUM SWEATER kit because it’s a beginner level and it’s been a long time since I’ve made anything!

Great choice! Good luck! 🙂

I would love to win this for my daughter. She’s almost 11 and has been learning to sew and crochet. She wants several of the kits, but the one she wants most is the Strelitzia scarf kit.

This is just lovely! However, I’m VERY allergic to wool and can’t use it any of my projects. Is the pattern available on it’s own?? Thanks! Holly
