New Video: Foundation Single Crochet

Foundation Single Crochet Video - learn how to make the foundation single crochet stitch

I’ve got a new crochet basics video up today – the foundation single crochet stitch! This is one of my favorite stitches, and one of my favorite ways to start off a new project. I’ve used it in all of the these patterns:

fsc projects

Tasseled Neckerchief  |  Feather and Fan Baby Blanket  |  Black Cat Slouch Hat

Check out the video below, and (please!) subscribe to my little baby youtube channel. I’ll be your best friend for always if you do. 🙂

Happy Making!

Alexis, your videos are so inspiring! I love how you’ve been cranking them out. I hope to be soon too 🙂

And I’ve never tried FSC before. Seems SOOOO much better than the typical way of chaining though. Thanks for the lesson!

Three questions: camera, music and video program? 🙂 I’m getting together content to start doing video for my blog but don’t know where to get music or which program to look into. I have a gopro but I’m wondering if I need something like a Powershot.

Hi Shelly! I’m just using my regular Canon DSLR for the video. 🙂 I am using Premiere Pro for editing (it’s included in Creative Cloud, which I was already paying for). And I bought a subscription to epidemic sound for the music (I think it’s a good deal. Check it out.) Good luck!

This is GREAT! I was just about to start up a blanket and saw your post today. You have saved my life and eyes today. I’ve seen a few tutorials for FSC in the past, but yours really best explained what all the chaining and loops were for. Thank you ♥

Thanks for the video! I was getting stuck with the written instructions but the video changed everything! As someone who hates to chain, this will be so much better!!!

    Thanks!

Alexis, you are amazing. I have really learned a lot from you. You make things so simple and easy to understand. I made my feather and fan baby blanket and it turned out so nice. The foundation crochet is the best; what a difference. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise.

you are a life saver! I’ve tried FSC before and it was a mess, so i got frustrated and went old school. I’m excited to try it with your feather and fan baby blanket very soon! I’m just in the process of picking out kids room colours, but once that’s done I plan to crank out two blankets!

I do fine up until about stitch 4 then I get so confused. I feel like I am pulling through too many times. I also can’t seem to figure out which stitch to go into. I have been crocheting for 40 years. I am pretty good at making most things but this stitch really has me stumped. Any suggestions?

I’m new to crochet. I had some problems with my hands. The therapist recommended crochet, Now I’m hooked. I love it. Your video was so easy to follow. Thank You.

Have watched multiple video tutorials to understand the what and how of doing FSC, this is the one that really made sense of things. I so struggle with the first few rows because of the tight, twisty nature of a chain…will use this always from now on. THANK YOU!
