Come tour our new beautiful and moody dark teal bedroom! I love our new bedroom, and I think those dark walls make all the difference! If you have been considering a dark bedroom, I hope this post will give you some ideas and inspiration.
I am so excited to share a little bit of my new favorite room in our home with you all! Today, I am talking about bringing in some major color and major mood to our home decor.
Most of our home is painted white, and I still love white walls, but lately I have been craving more color. For our bedroom I have really been wanting to create a space that’s a little bit dark and moody.
This is what the room looked like before:
Mostly, it was big white box. I had purchased that black and white patterned bed, which I love, and I wanted dark walls for it to really pop off of. I decided that a dark green or blue color would be just the thing, and I went looking for the perfect color.
I decided to go with KILZ COMPLETE COAT® Paint & Primer in Fathoms Below RE290-02 with a satin finish. Fathoms Below is a dark teal color that I knew would help create the moody look I was going for. It also almost perfectly matches the teal velvet curtains I had already purchased, and I just love how they look together.
Before painting, it’s never a bad idea to start with a fresh coat of KILZ® Original Primer—which is a great option if you have dark colored walls or walls with stains (water stains, grease, or even kids’ marker scribbles). KILZ Original Primer also does a great job of sealing in unwanted pet or smoke odors. So whatever issues you may have, KILZ will give you a beautiful surface to start with.
I just grabbed my paint and supplies at Walmart while I was picking up some groceries, which makes it so convenient! You can also order your favorite color (and samples) to be delivered right to your home through their website.
It’s not always easy to go from white walls to a dark color like this beautiful deep teal, but KILZ Complete Coat was great to work with and gave great coverage. Before we knew it, we had the beautiful dark walls I had been dreaming of.
We painted the entire room, and it just creates an instant mood in the room. It feels like this pretty little hideaway, and I’m crazy about it. Seriously, you guys, I love this color. Ready to peek around the finished room? Come on in!
I am so, so happy with how this room turned out. I just love the way the dark walls set off the furniture and art I have pulled together for this space.
What do you think? Would you consider a dark bedroom like this?
Until next time, Happy Painting and Happy Making!
