I know people can have… feelings about Valentine’s Day. It can be cheesy and depressing and lots of other not great things, but I have found that I kind of love Valentine’s Day with kids. We like to make heart shaped pizzas and make punny valentines for their friends, and really it’s all just fun and low pressure.
The kids love picking out little toys or trinkets to hand out to their classmates, and we work together to come up with little cards to go with what they picked out. Often, those cards end up as free printables here on on the blog.
This year I had an idea for a crafty little Valentine’s Day gift – washi tape! I think they turned out pretty cute, and if you want to make some, you know I’ve got you covered with that free printable. 😉
How to Make Your own Printable Washi Tape Valentines
You need just a few supplies and a few minutes to put together your own washi tape valentines.
Washi Tape Valentine Supplies:
- White Cardstock
- Washi Tape
- Scissors or Paper Trimmer
- Small Hole Punch
- Baker’s Twine
- My Free Printable Valentine Designs (Download at the end of this post!)
Step One. Print and Cut.
Start off by printing the cards off on white cardstock. (You can find the free download at the end of this post.) There are four cards per page.
Next, cut the cards down to size using a pair of scissors or a paper trimmer.
Step Two. Add Washi Tape.
Next, you will need to punch a pair of holes in your cards for tying on your rolls of washi tape.
After you have your holes punched where you want to tie the tape on, simply thread a piece of twine up through the holes and tie the tape in place with a little bow.
The XOXO cards are designed to hold two rolls of tape, and they might be my favorites.
I thought these little valentines could be great for lots of different people of different ages. I mean, would I like to receive a little surprise washi tape gift? Yes, ma’am!
They could also be great for teens and tweens, and of course, for kids. My kids love crafty supplies, and colorful tape is a special favorite. You can get all kinds of prints too – I know my kids would love these fun prints.
