My New (Very Messy) Craft Room

Hey guys!
So… my family and I moved into a new home yesterday, and instead of unpacking one of the approximately 8,456,321 boxes laying around, I am writing this post because, you know, priorities.
Anyway, a couple of months ago I shared my newly finished craft room with you all, and, guys – I LOVED that space. It brought new purpose and order to my life. Truly. And then about a two weeks after it was all finished, we decided to move.
Waaaaaaah
So today, I’m introducing you to my beloved craft space’s replacement.

I mean. Gorgeous, right?

Haha. So, it’s a work in progress. Or, more accurately, a work about to be in progress. I was digging through boxes this morning looking for crayons and paper for my kids, and decided to snap a few pictures to share with you all. So, these are obviously beautifully staged.

Anyway – I know this room is going to be awesome when it is all set up, but it presents quite a few challenges. First of all, the shape: it is long and skinny.

Secondly, the room has very little wall space. It is basically a sun room off of the dining area and family room on the back of the house, which means the small room has four windows and two sliding doors.

This is the view of the room from the kitchen/dining area.

The ups of all those windows and doors is lots and lots of natural light. I also like that I can be working in there and still be really connected to what my family is doing in the main part of the house. The downs are that there is little to no wall space (which most likely means my beloved quote wall will not be coming back in the new house), and that the craft space will be visible from my dining room (I’m thinking curtains can help with that).
The room already has some built-in storage, which is great. I’m super excited about the floor to ceiling paper shelves over there.

What do you all think? Any suggestions on how to organize the space? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Can't wait to see what you do with it! Those built in paper shelves are amazing!

I think all of that light looks great (our craft room is in a basement ;)) and those paper shelves are awesome! Figuring out where to put your desk seems the hardest. I think I would try a desk facing the windows to the outside, maybe have a narrow cork board or some of your quotes on the small wall between the two sets of windows? It would be nice to have that light falling on your workspace…

I thnk I would embrace the lack of wall area and install storage units (shelves and cupboards) all down the centre of the room, with a nice strong wooden top across the lot to give you acres of workspace. I would have that overhanging the units so that you could sit wherever appropriate for the task at hand using stools. If possible I would also include a sink in the centre unit (plumbing

Definitely a unique space, but I think it has some seriously fun potential! And that quote wall has to come back… maybe it's just reinvented… like quote curtains or garland quotes hanging from the ceiling?! I have no doubt you'll make it amazing regardless! Good luck settling in!

That built-in paper storage shelving is MONEY. It's making me realize that it's exactly what I need in my life. Such a perfect space for crafting! Immediately I thought all the natural light is going to be so handy haha.

I really like this space! We have a sunroom of sorts too and my husband suggested I make it into a craft room. I'll be following along your progress! I can't believe you had to leave your old craft room that you just finished though…

That natural light!! I would kill for that much light in my *soon to be* craft room/office for photos! Can't wait to see how it turns out 🙂

What a room! Quick idea on the quote wall. What about the space on the right under the window? Kind of like a half wall treatment. Even if you had to put a shelf in front of the area it could still pop and look amazing.
