Halloween Home Tour

I am really excited to be joining with some of my bloggy friends today to bring you mini tours of our homes all decked out for Halloween. Fun, right? When you scroll to the end of this post, you will find links to 14 other Spooktacular Halloween homes.

But, first, come on over and peek around my place!

So, I’ve mentioned that we just moved into a new home about a week and a half ago, and while many of my possessions are still being stored in cardboard boxes, my house is all ready for Halloween. Priorities, people.

Honestly though, I think putting up decorations has helped make this new place feel more like home. And my kids love it. They joined in the decorating fun by making the little ornaments hanging from that spooky tree on our porch (P.S. it lights up!).

The porch also happens to be where maybe my favorite Halloween decoration lives. If you follow me on instagram, you already saw that cute spider pumpkin stand. Isn’t it adorable?

My owl wreath from last year is still looking pretty good, and since I love Disneyland, I couldn’t help but throw a little Haunted Mansion reference into the mat I painted to greet our Trick or Treaters.

When you come in, you will see my little Day of the Dead vignette over our shoe cabinet.
I’ve played around with it a bit since my post about it the other day, and I think I like it even better now.

I included my Dia de los Muertos wreath and Crochet Sugar Skull along with some painted feathers and World Market finds.

Across the way is our living room, which doesn’t have much furniture in it yet, but the piano provides a nice spot to add some decorations.
I hung my skull cameos, and gave a thrifted paint-by-number girl a spooky makeover. I am so, so happy with the way she turned out! I will have to do a post to show you exactly how I did it, but basically I gave her a little sugar skull style mask and a tissue flower for her hair.
Isn’t she kind of wonderful?
Next, I added a simple little countdown to our big chalkboard. And – this is kind of exciting – we have a real life mantel in this house. No more “mantel” guys, just mantel.
I painted up some more Haunted Mansion lyrics on an old canvas I had lying around, and then just added a few spooky details – a jeweled skull and dollar bin spider – to a couple of framed pieces of marble paper I already had on hand.

I also whipped up a simple banner out of black and white ribbon and felt skulls I had leftover from my Dia de los Muertos wreath.

And there you have it – Boo Central, as the dryer repair man who came by yesterday called it.
Are you ready for some more spooky, cute, and creative Halloween ideas? YES? Me too! Let’s check ’em out!
