Do you have any birthdays coming up in your family? My oldest is getting ready to celebrate his second pandemic birthday (😭), and we are trying to figure out little ways to make it special.
If you are looking for some fun and cute printables to celebrate a loved one’s birthday, then you are in the right place because I’m teaming up with my #totallyfreeprintables friends to bring you a bunch of free birthday printables! Yay!
For my design, I created birthday rosette badges, because I just love me a cute button. (I also have a free St. Patrick’s Day Rosette Badge printable available here on the blog, if you are also a fan.)
Aren’t they cute? These little guys look pretty impressive, IMO, but they are actually really easy to make.
DIY Paper Rosette Badges
You need just a few supplies to put together your own birthday rosette buttons. A few of these supplies are optional but super helpful if you have them on hand.
DIY Paper Birthday Button Supplies:
- Copy Paper and White Cardstock
- Color Printer (I used my Brother Laser Printer for these badges.)
- Paper Trimmer
- 2.5″ Circle Punch
- Scoring Board
- Glue Pen
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
- Button Backs
- My Free Printables (Download them from the link at the end of the post)
How to Make a Paper Rosette Badge
- Start by printing off the printables. I recommend printing the ribbon and rosette pieces on copy paper and the center pieces on cardstock.
- Punch out the centers using a 2.5″ circle punch or cut carefully around the circles using a pair of scissors.
- Cut out the ribbon pieces and rosette pieces using the paper trimmer and scissors.
- Use your scoring board to score the rosette pieces at every quarter inch. Then fold the rosette pieces back and forth along the score lines using an accordion fold.
- Glue the folded rosette pieces together into a circle using the fine tip glue pen.
- Punch out a second circle from blank cardstock and use the hot glue gun to attach the rosette onto this circle. Glue the ribbon pieces onto the back and the center piece onto the front of the rosette.
- Finally, use the hot glue gun to attach the button back to the the rosette badge.
That’s it! Your birthday rosette badge is all ready to gift or wear!
I love the idea of attaching a button to the front of a 5×7 card and sending a button to a friend through the mail for a special little birthday surprise.
