I’m back on the french macaron train, friends, and this time we are going cute with a Candy Corn Colored French Macaron! Yay!
For this macaron experiment, I focused on the color and look more than trying out new flavors. (Although, they do taste pretty great!)
To make these Halloween goodies, I started by making two batches of Beth’s Foolproof French Macarons, one at a time. (See my tips for making French macarons here). For the first batch, I did not add any food coloring and topped with white non-pareils. I tinted the second batch yellow.
I chose to make two separate batches rather than adding food color to only half of the batch because french macarons can be finicky and I was afraid I would end up overbeating half of the batter. So, if you decide to make these, be warned you will be getting a double batch! I have read that french macarons freeze well, so I froze most of them and hope they will still be yummy for the Halloween festivities coming up at the end of the month. I will let you know how that goes! [Update: They froze beautifully! Take them out of the freezer, and in about a half hour they will be ready to eat.]
When all my macs were baked and cooled, I filled the shells with orange buttercream tinted bright orange with gel food coloring. I love the look of candy corns but not the flavor, so while my macs look like candy corn, they have a yummy citrus tang. Mmm-mmm!
I think these candy corn colored French macarons are sophisticated and fun at the same time, which makes them perfect for a Halloween party for all ages. The colors make them attractive to kids, but the adults will love them because they are delicious and awesome.

These are the most perfect looking macarons I've ever seen. I don't like the taste of candy corn either! What a great alternative.<br />

How cute! Any time we go to Paris I have to get macaroons from Laduree! I love macaroons and I love this fun festive recipe. Bringing two of my tops loves together…fall and macaroons!
Alexis Middleton says
I went to Paris once, but I was much younger and didn't try enough delicious foods. When I go back, I think all I will do is eat. Well, almost all. 🙂 Thanks so much for your sweet comment!
