Tutorial: Lucky Me Gilded St. Patrick’s Day Art

I’ve already gone over my feelings about St. Patrick’s Day, so I will just summarize: I was anti, but then I remembered gold, and I flip-flopped. I had all these gilded visions and just couldn’t help myself.
It was about time to change up the Valentine’s Day “mantel,” so I decided to add in a few subtle St. Patrick’s Day touches for March. This little Lucky Me Gilded Art was super easy to put together.
Want to make your own? It’s super easy. Here’s how:
Gilded St. Patrick’s Day Art Tutorial

Materials
  • paper (I used watercolor paper because I had it on hand and it’s nice and thick)
  • pencil
  • brush
  • metal leaf adhesive
  • metal leaf (Gold!)
Start by sketching out your words or design with your pencil. I liked “Lucky Me” for St. Patrick’s Day. Plus – bonus! – you can sing “Lucky” by Britney Spears the whole time you work on this little project.

Then go over your sketch with the metal leaf adhesive using your brush. (She’s so lucky, she’s a star, but she cry, cry, cries in her lonely hea-ah-art)

After the adhesive has dried for about 30 minutes and is super tacky, carefully lay the metal leaf over the top.

Then brush the excess metal leaf off using a clean brush. This part is so fun. (Then why-y do these te-ars come at night?)

Boom! That’s it. It’s the most obviously St. Patrick’s Day element in my new little mantel. I had to leave the black heart garland from Valentine’s Day in cuz I love it.

Whaddaya think? Anyone else doing any St. Patrick’s Day decorating?

Linking up at some of my favorite parties.

Isn't she lucky? This Hollywood girl?
Gold and green happen to be my two fav colors and I'm just now remembering how friends have asked me before if Paddy's Day is my favorite holiday because of that. I never celebrate or decorate for it! This art is definitely something that I would have around regardless of the holiday though. Very simple and pretty <3

I just happen to be crazy for green and gold and black and white, so you'd think I'd be loving some St. P day decor… but after Valentine's day, I'm holiday decorated out. However, I'm loving your tiny bits of St. P day decor. I keep telling myself I should try gold metal leafing and after seeing you do it a few times, I'm gaining confidence! Thanks for sharing this

I had completely forgot about that song! Oh, that takes me back.

I love this little gold number! I've been loving all the gilded DIYs I'm seeing out there and can't wait to get my hands on some after our move. I won't be decorating, but If I had somewhere to decorate, this art would be happening!
