I have been really into big, fun statement earrings lately, and I so I have been dying to DIY some. These pom pom earrings are my first crack at it, and I really love the way they came out. They are so simple to make and a lot of fun to wear. You can easily customize them by switching up the color of your pom poms or make them more subtle or more of a statement by changing up the size of your pom pom and earring wires.
Ready to make some pom pom earrings?!
DIY Pom Pom Earrings Supplies:
- Yarn – This is a great craft for using up any bits and pieces you have stashed. I found that sport weight yarn worked particularly well for the teeny-tiny pom poms.
- Small Pom Pom Makers – I used Clover extra-small and small
- Scissors – I recommend some with a sharp point like these
- Earrings – Thin Hoops or Kidney Wires
The process for making these DIY Pom Pom Earrings is super simple. Basically, you just make pom poms, slide them onto the earrings, and then wear! Easy peasy! I used Clover pom pom makers, and I definitely recommend them for getting a nice round pom pom without tons of trimming. Just wrap a few different colors of yarn around the pom pom maker to make the multi-color pom poms like the ones I used on this pair:
I made a whole bunch of these earrings in really no time at all, and I kind of love them all, but I think those hoops are my favorite. These really are super easy to make, and I even have a little video to show you exactly how to put them together.

How did you do the multi-colored pom-poms with the pom-pom maker? Do you just take individual strands of the colors you want and wrap each color on the maker? Is it really that simple? 🙂
