Fabric Scrap Tree Craft: Guest Post by Allison from Freshly Completed

I’m so happy to be with you today sharing my homemade holiday craft.  I’m Allison and I blog over at Freshly Completed.  There you’ll find all things sewn, drawn, painted, baked, and inspirations from others.

But getting on to my homemade craft for the holidays– Right now I’m visiting family in northern Wisconsin and it is cold and there is snow all over the ground—mix that with the smells of homemade chex mix, the giggles of my children, being with family and I know the holidays are here.  Isn’t it lovely?
For my craft I wanted to make something simple, cute, and spend no money.  A fun little repurposing project to hang on the wall to excite everyone for the holidays.  Instead of my usual medium, sewing, I decided to do this project using just a glue gun.
Here’s how to make your own:
1. Cardboard from cereal
2. Fabric scraps
3.  Glue gun
4. Bakers twine.
STEP ONE:  Cut out some cardboard using cereal boxes.
STEP TWO:  Wrap blue fabric around the top of cardboard.  Cut triangles on the corners.  Glue the bottom down.  Flip over.
STEP THREE:  Cut bakers twine and tie in a knot.  Slip the knot in the middle, glue in place.  Place the fabric on top and glue down.
STEP FOUR:  Fold edges in and glue down.
STEP FIVE:  Iron the edge down 1 inch and place on top of blue fabric.  Fold down edges on both sides.
STEP SIX:  Cut out triangles for your trees.
STEP SEVEN:  Cut fabric to do around triangle, clip corners, fold over edges and glue down.  Clip any extra edges.
STEP EIGHT:  Fold in edges to make tree trunks and glue in place.  Glue down the trees.
STEP NINE:  For the star, cut out a yellow circle, twist the center in and glue in place.  Fold in all the edges and tuck in towards the center.  Place on the tree.
STEP TEN:  Add some cut fabric tie in a knot to the edges for added cuteness and balance.
All done!
Once done, hang it on the wall for a simple, lovely, free holiday decoration.
Thanks for having me.
