Most of my Christmas decorating this year has a vintage vibe. That means lots of little vintage trinkets and bottle brush trees, tinsel, and sheet music! I created a couple of garlands using vintage sheet music to incorporate into my decor. I already had all of the supplies on hand, so these delicate garlands didn’t cost me a thing to make. You could create your own for a few bucks {or even free!}.
You will need either an old hymnal or songbook {I found mine on eBay for a couple of bucks a few years ago} or if you’d rather not tear up an old book, you can print copies of sheet music online. You will also need scissors, X-acto knife, paper punch, string, and either scotch tape or glue. {and you’ll want to be sure to do your crafting by the light of the tree…because of course!}.
Slightly trim 3 of the 4 sides with a pair of scissors.
Then, on the untrimmed side, cut a triangle starting at each corner and meeting in the center of the paper. To create any other style of garland, use a paper punch in the shape of your choice. Next, cut a piece of string or twine to the desired length. Space out each piece of the garland and attach to the string with scotch tape or a dot of hot glue. You can leave the sheet music as is or embellish with a bit of glitter.
I strung a short piece of flag style garland across my mantel, and tucked some circle garland {that I made with a paper punch} onto our main tree in the living room.
I love these little garlands! They are so simple and festive. Thanks to Alexis for inviting me to share today! I hope y’all will hop on by my place sometime soon! You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. 🙂
