Deer Applique Envelope Pillow

I made this little deer pillow when I was getting ready for my Christmas home tour, but it will be sticking around long after all the Christmas decorations are boxed up (we are still working on that over here – no judging, please!).
I saw this pillow cover from H&M home, and decided to make my own version. Of course the H&M one only costs 10 bucks so I could probably have just bought that one, but I wanted mine to have a little pop of color.
I started by finding images of flowers and an deer online. I edited the the deer photo to give it a sepia-toned look and then printed my images onto fabric using freezer paper.
Next, I cut out the images, and used wonder under to attach them to a piece of felt that I cut out around the shape and sewed onto the piece of fabric cut for the front of the pillow.
I made a simple envelope pillow with a pink pom-pom trim. There are loads of great tutorials on how to make envelope pillows out there, but here’s just a quick run-down:
When you have your pieces all ready, stack them right sides together, stitch ’em together, and flip right side out. Voila!
After I finished my little deer pillow, I had this vision of a pink faux bois pillow in my head. I was coming up with plans on how I was going to accomplish it, but then I was at the fabric store and came across this fabric:
Well, that was easy! Yay! I think it looks perfect with a little pom-pom trim. What do you think?

Love this! I'm pinning this for a little woodland creature room I have planned for the future! Except maybe I'll borrow the idea for my living room first, because January always = new living room pillows! 🙂

This is ultra cute and gorgeous. The pom pom trim is my favorite!! And I think the pop of color was the perfect call. Much better than H&M's, agree with Amy!
