All of a sudden my little baby is seven months old and not so little. I really don’t know how that happened so quickly, but it did, and I figured I better hurry up and share his nursery with you guys before he has grown out of it.
I’m not going to say this room is perfect. There are still several things I’d like to change (I’m looking at you, ugly rocking chair), but I am still really happy with the way it has come together. And since we used furniture we already had, we were able to completely change the look of the room for about 300 bucks. [Be sure to see my nursery mood board and the before pictures here.]
Anyway. Come on in! Let’s check it out.
Of course, the cutest part of the whole room is my handsome little man. But, there’s some other good stuff in here too.
Like that hot air balloon mobile. I really like it.
Now that chalkboard I made, on the other hand, was a bit of a fail, which is why I haven’t done a post on it. But it’s not too bad from far away.
You can see my tutorial on how to make a simple crib skirt here. The crib sheet is from Target. The diamond baby quilt was made by my mother. The rug is from RugsUSA. The basket is from Target. I got two curtain panels for 20 bucks (steal!) from Home Goods, and I made them longer by adding the navy panel to the bottoms.
I’m pretty happy with those little lobster paintings, and I will be sharing a tutorial on how I made them soon.
That little yellow dresser used to live in my grandma’s basement. It could use a little love (some new hardware for sure), and I’m not sure if I want to paint it or not. But right now it’s a good place to keep some toys.
The lamp, lampshade, and fox figurine are from Target. I painted that little fox watercolor and made the ladies love gentleman print (inspired by this print). The pirate ship collage is a Hollie Chastain print.
This side of the room is maybe my favorite part. When we moved into this house one of the first things we did was take out the closet doors. Putting the changing table into the closet really increases the useable space in the room.
I painted the design on the wall in the closet nook back when this was my daughter’s nursery, and I loved it so much it was the one part of the room that I really didn’t want to change. You can read more about how I did it here.
We added a little bar into the corner to hang up all of the cutest clothes. The hot air balloon print is from Somewhat Simple. I got that wooden letter from Joann thinking I would paint or stain it, but when I put it in the room, I loved the way it looked so I just left the natural woodgrain as is. The crochet star garland is courtesy of Alice Remembers.
We used three picture ledges from Ikea to display some favorite books. Aaaaaand – that’s it!
What do you think? I feel like I am constantly still figuring out my home decor style, but I think this room comes pretty close to capturing my style.
Linking up at some of my favorite parties.

Ahhhh!! Super duper LOVE this! What an adorable boy room! I love seeing boy rooms done really well because, let's be honest, the girls get a lot more attention, at least in the stores. Pinned and sharing! Great job, girly!<br /><br />~Abby =)

Thanks so much for sharing Abby. And I agree on enjoying design for boys. I love the girly stuff too, but it was really fun to get to go a little masculine and moody in the design.

Hey its Deonna from the Child at Heart blog…I LOVE this room. That closet is the cutest thing I have ever seen…I'm pinning that for later. I did the white shelves for the books too in my baby boys room. See baby boy rooms can be fun too! I am using this for future inspiration…I put my sons dressers in the closet but his isn't as cute as yours. The wall color is great too. I

So, so cute! I love the changing table/closet area so much! Did you free hand the design on the wall? And your little munchkin is just too cute for words. 🙂
Alexis Middleton says
Thanks, Rachel! Yeah, I kind of like him. 🙂 Yes, I free-handed the design on the wall with a sharpie paint marker. I kind of copied the pattern from a catalog page posted here: http://www.dykast.us/2009/04/08/the-curse-of-the-dreaded-long-hallway-and-what-i-did-about-it/
