It's not quite officially fall yet, but we are almost there! September is usually the hardest month of the year for me here in Vegas because everyone else in the country is embracing fall and we are over here sweating in the 100s. Luckily, this year we've had some rain which has cooled things down a bit, and that has just made me even more excited for fall! I decided it was time to switch up the wreath on the front door, and this pretty little modern fall wreath is what I came ... [Read More]

How to make Paper Leaves: DIY Paper Banana Leaf Wreath

make your own banana leaves from crepe paper

Learn how to make paper leaves and turn them into this cute DIY paper banana leaf wreath. This tropical leaf is perfect for summer and sunny days! I originally shared this post at Darice, and it may contain affiliate links, which help to support this site.  Can we talk Troop Beverly Hills for a minute? It was my favorite movie as a kid, and I'm still kind of obsessed with it. As evidenced by that one time my daughter had a summer camp birthday party, and I couldn't help but throw in a bunch of Troop Beverly Hills references even if no one appreciated them but me. Just in case you are not familiar with this amazing piece of film, part of the film takes place in the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel, which means I have always had a soft spot for it's pink and green stripes and banana ... This post contains affiliate links, which help to support this blog. Thanks! I am excited to announce that I have joined the Make It Fun Crafts team! Yay! This means that every month I will be getting a box full of surprise craft supplies and making something awesome with them. This month I received a box full of foam wreaths, which couldn't have been more perfect because - guys, don't tell anyone, but  - I was still rockin the winter wreath on the front door. Sad, true story. ? It's already pretty hot here in the desert, so I was definitely ready for something with a colorful punch - time ... [Read More]

Dia de los Muertos Wreath

*This post originally appeared on Eighteen25 as part of their Spooktacular September. This post also includes affiliate links. Thanks for supporting Persia Lou! Last year my Halloween decor was all black and white, and I really liked it. But this year, I have been really inspired by Dia de los Muertos, which meant I had to let some color in. My projects this year have all been inspired by the colorful sugar skulls and ofrendas used to celebrate the holiday. Another Dia de los Muertos symbol is the marigold, the pretty organge flowers used to decorate altars made for loved ones, so I made my own version of marigold tissue paper flowers as the base for my wreath. This may be a little weird, but it was a stretch for me to incorporate orange into my Halloween/Fall decor because I'm ... [Read More]

But first - can I tell you guys something? This is a little embarrassing, but I just took my winter wreath off my door about a week ago. Yeah.... Oh, and by the way, my winter wreath was, uh, pretty wintery: About Easter time I took off the gold bow and added a pink one, telling myself that those snowy pom-poms could pass for little bunny tails. And then, about a month ago (when, long after Easter, the "bunny tail wreath" was still hanging around), a ... [Read More]
