Specifically, I am a Disneyland nerd. When I was a little girl growing up in Southern California, we had annual passes for a few years, and ever since then I've been hooked. I especially love Retro Disneyland - the colors, mid-century style, and optimism about the future all really appeal to me. The vintage attraction posters really inspired my kids' bedroom makeover, that was just one of my favorite projects ever. Today, I have a fun little project for you that celebrates Retro Disneyland in a much ... [Read More]

Where to Find Vintage Style Disney Posters

Find out where to find gorgeous vintage-style Disney posters to decorate your home in style. Some of these awesome prints are even available for free! You can find awesome travel poster style designs for every room in your home! This post contains affiliate links, which help to support this site at no extra cost to you. When we moved into our new home, my daughter and son no longer had to share a room, and since my son kept most of the furniture from their shared room, my daughter's room was a blank canvas. Like most four year olds, she had some pretty strong opinions on how her room should be decorated. For example, she really wanted Frozen wall decals, annnnnnnd I wasn't so hot on the idea. But I think we came up with a great compromise - a beautiful, vintage-style Frozen Travel ... [Read More]

Small Shared Boy and Girl’s Bedroom: Vintage Disneyland Room Reveal

The day has finally come! After a over a year of planning, pinning, dreaming, painting, quilting, and shopping, I am ready to call my kids' vintage Disneyland room reveal ready. When I started planning this room, I was facing a few challenges. First of all, I really wanted the room to be something that both my all-boy son and girly-girl daughter would love. Coming up with a fun theme for a shared boy and girl's room can be a bit of a challenge. Secondly, I needed to fit two beds, two kids' worth of stuff, and some play space in a small (about 11'x11') room. Finally, the walls were already navy with white beadboard on the bottom, and I wanted to incorporate that into the room. I am a big Disneyland fan, and I have always been particularly fond of the vintage attraction posters, so I ... [Read More]

DIY Vintage Disneyland Pennants

My kids' Vintage Disneyland Room has been pretty close to finished for a while now, but I've got a few last touches I want to wrap up before I share the completed room with you all. Until then, here's a little project that brought a bit more vintage Disney to the room. For a while I considered purchasing some vintage Disneyland felt pennants from etsy or ebay, but I finally decided to make my own reproduction versions. An original pennant would be awesome to have, but the benefit of making my own is that I could use colors that fit into my color scheme. I started off by printing off the word "Disneyland" using the Started by a Mouse font. I also found an image of the castle to make my stencil. I cut my stencils out of freezer paper using an Xacto knife. Then, I ironed the freezer ... [Read More]

Small World Decoupage Globe (Vintage Disneyland Room)

You all have seen the amazing decoupage globes created by Wendy Gold, right? They are so inspirational, and I would love to own one. This is one of my favorites, and one that I thought would fit into my kids' Vintage Disneyland Room pretty well: ImagineNations by Wendy Gold It reminds me of the Pixar movie UP. Carl and Ellie would have it in their house. Don't you think? The more I thought about a vintage globe in the vintage Disneyland room, the more I thought that I needed to make a small world globe that reflected the artistic style of one of my favorite Disney artists, Mary Blair. I found artwork online that I printed out and decoupaged onto the globe. I found the different sun artwork at the Disneyland California Report, and the children from around ... [Read More]
