This post was originally created by me for Darice. Do you do Halloween decorations in your house? If so, do you go scary, gory, cutesy - what's the look you like? Sometimes I really like pretty Halloween - black and white florals, jeweled skulls - that kind of thing. That's the look I went for with this DIY trick or treat bowl. The finished Halloween DIY bowl is a little spooky, but mostly pretty and sophisticated, and I am really happy with the way this project came out. I love that it's so glossy - I think it gives it a nice professional look. The trick to getting that polished finish is applying the printed elements and paint to the interior of the bowl and letting them shine through the plastic. It's kind of a lot of fun. Want to give it a try? Here’s everything you ... [Read More]

DIY Glitter Sunglasses Tutorial
This post was originally shared by Persia Lou on Eighteen25. I kind of tend to make things complicated. I think it may be a symptom of being a diehard DIYer. You know, like why-buy-when-I-could-make kind of thing. Anyone else have this problem? Anyway - the point is that every once in a while I just need a simple, quick project that is done in 30 minutes but is still awesome. This is that project: DIY Glitter Sunnies. Totally easy peasy. Completely sparkly. I've been wearing these shades for weeks now, and I have received lots of compliments. Here's what you will need to make your own: Start off by using painter's tape to tape off any part of the glasses you don't want to be covered in glitter (including the lenses!). I used my tape to create a straight line across the ... [Read More]
Glittery Wood-Slice Ornaments
In case you missed it, here are the ornaments I shared last week as part of Lines Across' ornament series. These guys were easy to throw together and added more rustic glam-y goodness to my tree this year. You can see my tree and whole Christmas home here. When I saw these birch slices at my local craft store, I knew they would make perfect ornaments for this year's tree. Pre-sliced worked great for me because I have a slight fear of power tools, especially saws. I did have to work up my courage to drill some holes in the tags, but drills aren't as scary because they seem less likely to take off a finger (I'm sure it's possible - no horror stories please!). Anyway, It was simple enough to drill a little hole in the top of each little slice. Then it was time to add a little ... [Read More]
DIY (FREE!) Framed Botanical Artwork
If you've been following along, you know we have been doing some work in our Master Bathroom, which means I finally decided to put something up on the wall. I had decided to go with botanical prints to bring some nature and color into the space. I chose some free botanical printables from The Graphics Fairy (there are several free online sources you can read more about here), and started thinking about how I wanted to display them in the bathroom. I had already purchased a shelf from Home Goods that had a rustic wood look to it, so I wanted a similar texture and look to frame out my botanicals. I immediately thought of the box of extra laminate flooring we had leftover from redoing the floors downstairs. The color and texture were just about perfect. First, I measured my prints to ... Small World Decoupage Globe (Vintage Disneyland Room)
You all have seen the amazing decoupage globes created by Wendy Gold, right? They are so inspirational, and I would love to own one. This is one of my favorites, and one that I thought would fit into my kids' Vintage Disneyland Room pretty well: ImagineNations by Wendy Gold It reminds me of the Pixar movie UP. Carl and Ellie would have it in their house. Don't you think? The more I thought about a vintage globe in the vintage Disneyland room, the more I thought that I needed to make a small world globe that reflected the artistic style of one of my favorite Disney artists, Mary Blair. I found artwork online that I printed out and decoupaged onto the globe. I found the different sun artwork at the Disneyland California Report, and the children from around ... [Read More]
