You. Guys.
I am just bursting at the seams excited to share my latest giant behind the scenes project with you all. I just hit publish on my very first crochet pattern video!
YAAAAAAY!
So many crocheters prefer videos to written patterns, and this is something I have been wanting to do for over aΒ year, but, guys, making videos is HARD. Especially good ones, and I really wanted to put something out there that I could be proud of (or at least not embarrassed by).
So after hours and hours of researching every. little. thing., I have finally managed to put together a video that I am ready to release into the wilds of the internet. It’s not perfect, but I kind of like it, and I hope you will too!
Please come over and subscribe to my brand new baby youtube channel because, like I said, more videos are coming!
Without further ado, here she is!
This is like magic. Love the video!
Haha! You are the best. π
Love this!! Sometimes a visual just makes it so much easier. Thanks for sharing!
P.S. You are really good in front of the camera!
I ended up making this today and LOVE it! I’ve been looking for a good slouch beanie pattern for a really long time and this one is PERFECT! I made mine in a dark grey yarn I already had on hand, but I definitely want to make more in other colors. Thanks again for sharing!
Oh yay!! That is so great to hear! Thanks so much for sharing with me. π
Your video is awesome! I first saw the teaser on Instagram and it was so cute.Video is on my list too. It seems so fun. And SO hard. Did you shoot it with your phone or your DSLR? Did you use a special microphone? For your first try, it’s so ambitious–12 minutes!? My goodness. I think I’ll start with a Vine π
Haha… Thank you! I had done one smaller video before, but this was my first crochet pattern video, which kind of has to be longer, unfortunately. π I used my DSLR and I also used a Blue Yeti microphone (http://amzn.to/1Nvw7MV – affiliate link). Good luck! Can’t wait to see your videos!
Way to go, Alexis!
Thanks, Jackie!!
Hi!
I am on my second slouch hat from your tutorial, I love this design! My question is, is the chain 3 part of the 60 stitch count for each round? I have a traveling seam and trying to figure out how to correct it so it is straight and wondered if I shouldn’t be counting the ch3 as one of the 60 stitches. Thanks!
I am watching your video and I am not wondering if I have been slipstitching into my first DC instead of the top of the ch3….so hard for me to figure out where the top of ch3 is. I always have this problem, a video on this alone would be worth a million dollars to me!!
I will work on one for you!
Hi April! Yes, the Ch 3 counts towards that 60 stitch count.
You are the cutest ever!
Aw… thanks so much, Delia! π
I just recently got back to doing crochet and found your website. It is awesome π
I completed making this slouchy hat in a dark golden yellow/mustard color and wanted to share it with you, I doubt the comments allow us to share pictures! Thank you so much! It was so much fun making and wearing it π
Looking forward to more fun things to do with you on your site π
That’s so great! I’m so glad your hat turned out awesome! If you are on instagram, facebook, or twitter, you can share your picture with me there. Tag me (@persialou on instagram or twitter) or share to my facebook page (facebook.com/persialou). Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. π
I just made this hat! super cute! I want to make another one in a different type of yarn. i couldn’t find how many yards it takes to make… i just used the biggest rol of yarn I had. In your typed pattern you just said a ball of yarn….please help, I made the mistake of not making sure I had the correct amount of yards when I started your black cat slouched hat LOL….so I’m still waiting on my online shipment to be made so I can finish that hat.
Hi Jessica! The yarn I used had 185 yards in one ball – so if you have about that much of whatever worsted weight yarn you are using, you should be good! Happy Crocheting!
Hi! Love your videos! I’m making my third hat using this tutorial, I’m fairly new to crochet and I keep getting big holes at the seam, (where I chain three as the first in a new row). Any ideas where I’m going wrong and how to stop pretty please?
Morning Alexis, I love your videos, I have already made 5 of the chunky beenies with the pom pom for friends and my next one is this one… I can’t wait!!! This one is for me π
Thanks so much, Heidi! Sweet comments like yours absolutely make my day. π
