This is a project I’ve made before. In fact, last time I made them for my daughter’s first birthday party, and now I’m making them for her third. I must really like these things. Or, I just couldn’t think of a better envelope for a fancy tea party or to accompany the embossed invitations I made.
The look so fancy to me, but they are really inexpensive and easy to make. I used different doilies this time (the lace pattern looks a little more “spiky” to me), and they give the envelopes a slightly different look. These are 10 inch doilies, and the invitations are 4.5″x6.5″ (the 4″x6″ invitations I made last time fit a little better). Here’s how you make them:
Crease the doily around the invitation and cut out the corners.
Add glue to the part of the doily that will overlap.
I used a scrap piece of cardstock when I pressed the envelope together so the whole things wouldn’t glue shut.
Fold and close it up with a little piece of washi tape.
Aren’t they lovely? I tried my hand at some quick calligraphy style names on the outsides of the envelopes. They are a little wonky, but I’m okay with that.
And now the party preparations are nearly done! Well, not really. But they are in the works. I’ve been practicing my french macarons, and the first batch turned out not too badly. Aren’t they pretty?
I shared this photo on facebook the other day. Come like my page for more behind the scenes action! 😉
Linking up at some of my favorite parties.
