Turn a plain scarf into a pretty, summery DIY Shibori Kimono. It’s easier than you might think!
I have totally bought into the kimono trend. Are you guys into it? I am 100% in it and starting my own kimono collection. I love being able to add some layering interest to my outfit without adding heat (have I mentioned its really hot here?). They also make great cover-ups when you are poolside, which I like to be as much as possible.
I have seen lots of tips and tutorials for sewing your own kimonos out of scarfs floating around in the blogosphere, and I have been wanting to give it a try. I decided to add a little bit of shibori dying to make it even a little more special.
I’m really happy with the way this kimono turned out. If you are into the kimono trend and want to make your own, head on over to Crafts Unleashed for the full tutorial today!
Happy Making!

Hi Lillian – I haven’t actually used Decoart Foam Paint before. I know that paint is specifically designed for use on craft foam, so it might not be the best option, but if you have some on hand and want to try it out, you could give it a shot! If you are looking to get a different kind of paint for fabric, I like the Decoart Americana Multi-Surface paint because you don’t have to add any fabric medium to it. It’s ready for fabric right out of the bottle. You can get that here if you like – http://amzn.to/2bBqDHm (that’s an affiliate link). I hope that helps! Good luck!
