This pretty Marble and Copper Cube Winter Floral Arrangement has a polished marble look with copper leaf, AND it’s easy to make thanks to foam! Thank you to Floracraft for sponsoring this post. This month for our Make It Fun: Crafts team post, we were challenged to make a project from the Make It Fun: Crafts 2015 Holiday E-Book and put our own little spin on it. There are lots of great craft ideas in the e-book, but I decided to do my version of the gold-dipped cube arrangement, except I decided to go with a marble and copper look.
Isn’t it pretty? I love that it has a winter vibe, but it’s not overtly “holiday” so this pretty little arrangement can stay out all season long. Here’s how I made these pretty winter arrangements.
Supplies:
- Floracraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Cube (5 inch and 3 inch)
- Marble Contact Paper
- Copper Leaf
- Metal Leaf Adhesive
- Brush
- Magnolia Stems
- Christmas Pine Spray
- Wire Cutters
- Scissors
- Low Temp Glue Gun
I started by cutting strips of contact paper to wrap around the corners of the cube so there wouldn’t be any foam showing through. Next, I used a ruler and pencil to mark out cross-shaped pieces with arms long enough to wrap up around the sides of each cube with about a half an inch to an inch of overlap on the top. I left the plastic wrapping on the cube because I found the contact paper stuck better to it. If you want to remove the plastic, you may need to use glue to keep the paper in place.
Once the cube is all wrapped in the pretty marble contact paper (except the top center – that’s where we will stick in our florals), it’s time to add the copper leaf. I brushed on the metal leaf adhesive in kind of a random pattern to cover the bottom half of each cube. Then I let set the cubes aside to dry for a bit. The adhesive got nice and tacky after about 30 minutes, and then I was ready to add the copper leaf. I carefully placed sheets of leaf onto the adhesive and simple brushed off the excess. (That’s the best part!)
Finally, I added my florals to the pretty marble and copper cube. I started with the large magnolia blooms, and then added in pine sprays, pinecones, and berries. Finally I used my low-temp glue gun to place leaves around the edges of the arrangement.
And that’s it! This was such an easy project, but oh so pretty! Easy + Pretty? That’s a good combo, folks. Plus I love that these blooms can be used year after year after year.
Happy Making!
