Guys. I sewed something.
To wear.
For ME to wear.
This is kind of a break through. And then the even crazier part is that I took pictures of me wearing it and then put them here for you to see. I mean. That is just nuts. Have I mentioned that I just had a baby? True story.
In fact, we should probably talk about that because that’s really the whole reason I made this shirt in the first place. Having a baby is wonderful. Truly. I love my little boy so, so much.
But the belly. It could go. Unfortunately, it’s going to take a while to shrink down my mummy tummy, and in the meantime, I still have to go out in public occasionally and wear real clothes. And, folks, I am so over the maternity stuff.
So, there I am looking at all the clothes in my closet that don’t fit me with no money for new clothes, and I resolved to make something. I grabbed one of my husbands old dress shirts, and I remembered a refashion I had seen on Cotton and Curls (she’s amazing – check it out) that very much inspired this shirt. Here’s how it came together.

I like it! Recycled and stylish! I once was paid to sew patches on jeans. Thanks for sharing. I know how hard that is!

Thanks, Mary!

Congrats – I'm so proud of you. I couldn't sew clothing to save my life… Well maybe that's not true – I would just rather sew quilts!
Alexis Middleton says
You could definitely sew clothes, but yeah… quilts may be more fun. 🙂

That turned out really good! I am still pretty scared to try clothing! I have only made blankets and stuff:) You've inspired me to try it! Hope you are having a great week!

I know – I feel much more comfortable in the throw pillow, curtain, straight seam world of sewing. But it's good to push your comfort zone a bit right? I'm sure you will sew something awesome. 🙂

So cute and clever! Thanks for sharing a brilliant idea. I have a couple of button up shirts hubby wore when we were dating, and this would be a fun way to give it new life.

Oh my god, how you sewed this, you make button back top by men's shirt, so now we use old shirts to make such unique style tops. French Cuff Dress Shirts
