Give your phone case an simple, sparkly upgrade quickly and easily with vinyl. Create your own unique design in minutes!
When I got my new phone last year, I ordered a clear case right away because I didn’t want to cover up that pretty rose gold finish that I was so excited about. And I did like the clear case quite a bit, but it didn’t have much personality.
This month, Expressions Vinyl challenged me and a few other ambassadors to make something with their awesome transparent glitter vinyl, and I knew it was the perfect opportunity to add some flair to my clear case while still letting the color of the phone shine through.
I made two cases – one super simple glitter case and one with a fun triangle pattern. Both were really easy to make with the vinyl.
Here’s everything you need to make your own:
Supplies (I have included affiliate links for your convenience below):
- Clear Phone Case
- Transparent Glitter Vinyl
- Weeding Tool
- Craft Knife
- Silhouette Cameo or Electronic Cutting Machine (optional)
- My Triangles SVG file
For the plain glitter case, I simply cut a piece of holographic vinyl about the same size as my case. I pressed the vinyl into the back of the case and smoothed out all the bubbles with my fingers. Then I used my craft knife to carefully trim the edges.
And that’s it! This one is so super simple, but I really love the way it looks on the phone.
The second case I made has a slightly more complex design, but it was also super easy to put together. I started by cutting a bunch of triangles out of four colors of the transparent glitter vinyl. I used my silhouette to cut them, but scissors or a craft knife would work just as well.
If you have an electronic cutting machine, you can download my triangles SVG file HERE. After the triangles are cut, use a weeding tool to peel off the negative space.
Next, I placed the triangles onto the inside of the back panel of the phone case. I started by lining up the base of one triangle with the bottom of the camera hole.
Then I filled in triangles around that triangle and moving down the phone. Where triangles went off the back panel, I used the craft knife to trim off the excess.
I just kept adding triangles until I was happy with the overall design.
So easy, right? Two new sparkly, transparent cases in just a few minutes time!

I love these so much, but I don’t want to go out and buy vinyl. Is there any way we can make these out of glue and glitter?
Alexis says
That might work! You could try glossy decoupage or maybe try mod podge dimenstional magic (here’s an affiliate link for that – http://amzn.to/2amQrdr). I would just be sure to get a stiff case because I think the glue might crack with a flexible case. I would love to hear how it works out if you give it a try! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! 🙂

do you stick on the vinyl on the inside or the outside of the case? also, could you help find a suitable vinyl glitter sheet on amazon prime? i have been looking and looking and I just can’t tell what’s right. Thank you in advance!

Hi Tina! I applied the vinyl to the inside of the case so the back of the case is smooth and you don’t have to worry about it coming off. Unfortunately the vinyl I used is not available on amazon prime. I *think* this is similar to what I used, but I don’t think it’s as glittery – http://amzn.to/2aAtTn2
