Hope you all are having a super fun, super spooky Halloween weekend! Nevada Day is October 31st, which means we always have state and school holidays for Halloween and this year that means a four day weekend! Woot!
This week I have been focused on finishing up my kids’ Halloween costumes, so I’m sorry I haven’t had a lot of new stuff up this week. But the good news is I have some great posts coming up in the next few weeks. Exciting stuff!
Do you guys want to see pictures of the kids’ costumes this year? They let me get away with a theme! SO exciting for me.
Here they are! My youngest got to reuse the Jack Skellington costume we made a few years ago, but I had to make a new bowtie because I couldn’t find the original one. This time I used craft foam for the wings which worked great and was way easier than the fabric and wire solution I used the last time.
My little girl wanted to be Sally, and her dress was one of my favorite pieces I made. I just sewed a simple dress and glued on different colored fabrics and painted designs and stitches on the whole thing. I also made her wig following Made’s awesome yarn wig tutorial.
And my favorite costume is my oldest son’s who was the Mayor of Halloweentown. If you don’t know the character, the mayor has a two-sided head that flips back and forth. I wasn’t sure how we were going to recreate that without covering his entire head (which I knew he would hate). Our solution was a simple two-sided hand held mask that I painted.
I love it! Anyway – hope you all have a Happy, Sweet, and Safe Halloween!
