I’ve mentioned my Jamberry nail wraps a few times here on the blog, and I wanted to share my favorite method for applying and removing them here. These wraps do have a bit of a learning curve. It took me a while to learn the best way to apply and remove them to get a good smooth application and to avoid any damage to my nails.
To apply your wraps, you really just need a few things – nail scissors, cuticle pusher, nail file, and a heat source (a mini heater, blowdryer, or rice pack all work great).
Application Tips & Tricks
- Pick the right size wrap. Picking a too-big wrap is a common mistake. Jamberry nail wraps adhere to nails, not to skin or cuticles, so if you choose a wrap that barely fits on your nail, you will have bubbles around the edges and that is no bueno. Try to err on the side of too-small when choosing between two sizes. A little sliver of bare nail on the side is better than your wraps lifting and bubbling. I’ve figured out which sizes work for which of my fingers, so now I don’t have to think about it. I can get two manicures and two pedicures out of one sheet of wraps plus a couple of accent nails. Here’s how the wraps work for my nails:
- Use pressure and heat to get a good smooth application. I prefer to use a cold application method. That means that I apply the wrap to my nail cold and then heat it up rather than heating them before applying. I prefer this method because it allows you to adjust your placement if you need to. If you follow this method, you will get a perfect application every time.
Removal Tips & Tricks
- DO NOT rip off your wraps! The most important removal tip is just do not, ever, never rip the wraps off your nails. If you do, you will damage your nails. You need to gently remove your wraps to keep your nails healthy. My number one trick for gently removing wraps is this guy:
- Try a dental pick! The dental flosser pick thingy is the perfect tool for gently separating your wraps from your nails. My favorite removal method is to soak my nails in warm coconut oil (olive oil works too!), and then to use the floss pick to gently separate the wrap from the nail working from side to side. You can check out a video tutorial of this method HERE.
And that’s it! Enjoy your pretty nails!
